On Wednesday, February 11, Madonna High School welcomed a special visitor…..the Mountaineer from West Virginia University. Mike Garzia, a Senior Political Science major from the university and this year’s mascot, talked to the students during a special assembly. Introduced by Mr. John Olashuk, a WVU Ambassador, Mike explained to the students how he became the mascot, and gave the students a motivational speech about how they should be themselves, know their values, and don’t be a follower….be a leader. As the Mountaineer, Mike visits schools throughout the state of West Virginia meeting with students. The Mountaineer is pictured with the Senior Class.
