The Madonna tennis team earned its first ever regional title on Friday at West Liberty University. The boys team finished as regional champions while the girls were runner-up, just 2 points behind Oak Glen.
Nine out of Madonna’s twelve position players have qualified to compete at the state tournament in Charleston next week.
STATE QUALIFIERS
Girls Singles:
#1 Ali Welch finished 3rd overall
#3 Elizabeth Conforti remains undefeated, finishing 1st overall
#4 Morgan Duerr finished 1st overall
Girls Doubles:
#1 Ali Welch & Christina Conforti finished 2nd overall
#2 Elizabeth Conforti & Morgan Duerr finished 1st overall
Boys Singles:
#1 Matt Conforti finished 1st overall
#2 Thomas Gianni finished 2nd overall
#4 Alan Alimario finished 1st overall
Boys Doubles:
#1 Matt Conforti & Thomas Gianni finished 2nd overall
#3 Ryan Watts & Cole Roberts finished 1st overall
Besides the state qualifiers, Boys #3 single Dominic Clements beat North Marion and Oak Glen to make it to the semifinal round but fell to Ravenswood.
