Seniors Rachel Boniti and Alec Cook will each receive the St. Sebastian Medal from the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston on Sunday, April 7 in Morgantown.  The St. Sebastian Medal is named for St. Sebastian, who is the Patron Saint of Athletes because he was always depicted in fine physical shape. Rachel and Alec are being recognized for being high-achieving student athletes and exhibiting the qualities of sportsmanship, teamwork, academics, and a high respect for school, classmates, teammates, opponents, parish and the community.

Rachel is the daughter of Rodney and Laura Boniti, and the sister of Megan Boniti. Rachel is a member of St. Joseph the Worker parish. She has maintained a 4.0 + GPA throughout her years at Madonna. Rachel has been the secretary of her class for the past four years. She is the Vice President of Pep Club, Secretary of the Art Club, and a member of the Interact and SADD Clubs. Rachel was inducted into the National Honor Society last year, where she is currently the Secretary. She is a four year letterman of the volleyball and basketball teams and a two year letterman of the softball team. Throughout her years in volleyball, Rachel has won OVAC All- Conference, First Team All OVAC, and played in the OVAC All Star Volleyball game. Throughout her years in basketball, Rachel has won Honorable Mention All-State, and Second Team All OVAC. Next year, Rachel is planning on attending West Virginia University and majoring in Exercise Physiology.

Alec is the son of Vicky and Denny Cook and the brother of Garrett Cook. He is a four year letterman and a two-time individual state champion for the wrestling team as well as the Most Outstanding Wrestler, Single A, in 2018.  He received the 2019 Bill Welker OVAC WV Wrestler of the Year.  His high school wresting career record is 187 wins.   He is a two year letterman for the football team, and ran track.  Alec has a 3.7 GPA and was inducted into the National Honor Society last year, and is currently the Historian.  He is also a member of the Interact Club, and Art Club.  Alec is an instructor at Gladiators Wrestling Club in Pennsylvania and is planning on attending Clarion University where he will wrestle and major in Education.
