Interact 5 001         interact6 001                                                                              During the Summer,  the Madonna High School Interact Club teamed up with the Weir High School Interact Club to give up some time from their summer vacation by volunteering at the Weirton Christian Center. The Weirton Christian Center is a community organization that offers pre-school classes, after school meals, activities, and camps for kids as well as programs focusing on staying healthy and safe throughout the community. The Christian Center has been serving the community on Elm Street since 1979 with a focus on keeping local children happy, healthy, focused, and safe.

Twelve students from the neighboring schools worked together to renovate one room of the Christian Center and the outdoor playground area. The students worked hard for three hours, assembling storage units, hanging posters, cleaning, and organizing the two spaces. Together, the two Interact Clubs contributed $1,000 worth of sports equipment such as soccer nets, a volleyball net, various sports balls, in addition to a new couch, a desk, and shelves for the indoor room. The Christian Center volunteers were overjoyed and grateful for the time and money the students put into the renovation. The Interact Clubs look forward to a new upcoming year of more community service projects to benefit the Weirton area.
