Senior Lonni Riggs has been named the 2019 Aquinas Award recipient from Madonna High School. Lonni will be receiving the Aquinas Medal at the 25th annual Bishop’s Dinner for Catholic Schools on Sunday, April 7, in Morgantown, West Virginia.  Lonni was selected as the award winner by the faculty of Madonna High School.  The award recognizes students for their outstanding qualities of faithful discipleship, academic excellence, leadership and service to the school, parish and community, reflecting the ideals of Catholic education epitomized by St. Thomas Aquinas, the patron saint of students. It is the highest honor a student can receive from the diocese.

Lonni is the Daughter of Lonny and Jayda Riggs, and big sister to Emma Riggs.  She has lettered on the Lady Dons Soccer team all four years of high school, and also plays travel soccer for Tri-State United. Lonni has been the president of Interact and Pep Club both her junior and senior year, member of Art and SADD Clubs all four years of high school, and the Secretary of Madonna’s Student Council her senior year.  Lonni was inducted into the National Honors Society during her Junior year and plans to attend Franciscan University of Steubenville, where she will major in nursing.
