Luke Amaismeier and Julia Wingett were selected to receive the St. Sebastian Medal from the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston. The St. Sebastian Medal is named for St. Sebastian, who is the Patron Saint of Athletes because he was always depicted in fine physical shape. Luke and Julia are being recognized for being high-achieving student athletes and exhibiting the qualities of sportsmanship, teamwork, academics, and a high respect for school, classmates, teammates, opponents, parish and the community.

Luke is the son of Matt and Jill Amaismeier and the brother of Matt. He is a member of the Monsignor Murphy Chapter of the National Honor Society. He is a four-year letterman of the basketball and baseball teams. Luke was named captain of the basketball and baseball teams his senior year.  He has won a 1A OVAC Championship in basketball and baseball. He has been named All-Valley and first team All-OVAC in baseball and named All-State honorable mention in baseball. Luke is planning on attending West Virginia University and would like to pursue a career in either math, accounting, or the medical field.

Julia is the daughter of Cory and Lisa Wingett, and the sister of Ella and Luke. She is the Student Council President and Pep Club President. She is a member and secretary of the Monsignor Murphy Chapter of the National Honor Society. Julia has participated in Weirton Youth Leadership and is a member of the OVAC Varsity Board. She has lettered in basketball for four years, soccer for three years, and cheer for two years. She was named captain of the soccer and basketball teams her senior year. Julia has earned OVAC Honorable Mention, OVAC All-Conference, and OVAC All-Star selection in soccer. She was a member of the OVAC Championship soccer team her sophomore year. Julia plans to attend Fairmont State University and major in business and finance.
