Edson “Ted” Arneault, Jr. has been hired as the head coach of the Madonna High School football team.

Ted Arneault returns to Madonna, where he was a teacher from 2006-2010 and the head coach of the Jr. Don Football program. During his time as the Jr. Don Coach, his team in 2009 had an undefeated season and won the Wheeling Parochial League Championship. He also had twenty-four players from the Jr. Don program that were a part of Madonna’s WVSSAC State Championship team.

Previously, Coach Arneault has held a variety of positions at Weir High School, Brooke High School, Robert Morris University, and most recently was the head coach for six years at Oak Glen High School. He was recognized as the West Virginia AA Coach of the Year in 2019 and was an OVAC 2020 Coach of the Year Finalist.

Arneault is a career educator and is currently the Assistant Principal at Weirton Elementary School. He was the 2016 Oak Glen High School Teacher of the Year where he taught Civics, AP Politics and Government, Psychology, and Geography.

“This is a unique opportunity to build a new dynamic in a place that is all too familiar,” said Arneault. The tradition, pride, and resilience of Madonna is undeniable. The future is bright for the blue and silver and it’s like I’ve been called home.”

Mr. Philip Rujak, Principal of Madonna High School, is thrilled to have Arneault join the Madonna family. “Coach Arneault is an excellence addition to Madonna High School. His background in education and coaching will have a huge impact on our program and our student-athletes. Ted is not only a quality coach, but he is a quality person as well.”

Coach Arneault has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 2006 and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a M.S. in Educational Leadership from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2010.
