Senior Alisandra Welch of Madonna High School was recently announced as The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 Teenagers of the Month for December.  Alisandra Welch, daughter of Thomas and Janeen Welch, has a grade point average of 4.0, completed 10 semesters of high school classes, earned 29 college credits and has been accepted at Carnegie Mellon University, where she plans to study chemical engineering. At Madonna High School, Welch is Interact Club president, Outdoor Adventure Club vice president, Pro-Life Club treasurer, Student Council class president, Prom Committee member and Advisory Board’s Academic Committee student representative. Her honors and awards include National Merit Scholar finalist, Siemens Fellowship winner, West Virginia’s Rhododendron Girls State Outstanding Citizen, Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy contest first place winner, Judicial Scholars representative and winner of Wendy’s High School Heisman award winner. Welch is a member of the National Honor Society, Prayer Club, Arts Club, SADD, Literary Magazine and St. Paul Catholic Church youth ministry. She is a four-year letterman  on the varsity girls tennis team and member of Lady Dons volleyball and golf teams. Her community service include the Youth Tennis Camp at Millsop Community Center, Vacation Bible School at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and Make-A-Difference Day of Madonna Interact Club.
