Francesca Basil Named Elks Teen of the Month

Basil UPDATESenior Francesca Basil was recently recognized as the Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 Teenager of the Month.  Francesca has a grade point average of 4.07.  Her honors and awards include Hugh O’Brien and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards and All Conference Academic Award.  She lettered three years in track and field and the Madonna varsity cheering squad.  She is a member of National Honor Society, class president, Outdoor Club Treasurer and Ski Club vice president.  She is a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Prayer Club, Interact, Drama, Jets, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Literary Magazine, Outdoor Club, Pep Club and the Madonna Travel and Tourism Club, having traveled on an international trip to Switzerland, Italy and France.  She is a minister and mass reader for Madonna High School masses, volunteers for Rosary Rally, cheering  camp, Junior and Senior Prom Committee, Community Bread Basket, Serra Manor, Urban Missions, Salvation Army, Mary H. Weir Library and serves Thanksgiving dinners to the less fortunate.  Francesca has been accepted to West Virginia University, where she plans to major in Business and Economics.
